| WHEN TO CHANGE YOUR SPA WATER? TDS - Total Dissolved Solids - may be the most misunderstood factor in the whole field of pool & spa water chemistry. It's misunderstood because no one knows exactly what effect it is going to have on any particular body of water. The National Spa & Pool Institute, in its standards for both swimming pools and spas, recommends an ideal TDS of between 1,000 and 2,000 ppm, with a maximum of 3,000 ppm. . So for every pound of stuff that you add to a 450 gallon spa, you will be increasing the TDS by 266 parts per million. And the reason it is necessary to change the water is that over time the total dissolved solids builds up to the point where further addition of chemicals will not maintain good healthy water balance. These dissolved solids come from bathers and residual from the water treatment. Opinions from spa manufacturer’s, product suppliers and the national spa and pool institute range from every 3 months to one year (most suggesting every 3 or 4 months) between spa water changes. Best advice I find is to change the water when it starts to look and feel abnormal and a good shock does not bring the water to a clear – soft condition. Also timing should be considered, if you suspect the water will need to be changed during the cold winter months it may be a good idea to change early.
Spa owners using the EcoOne products may not see a need to change their water often because of dramatic reduction in harsh chemicals, coupled with the products natural, continuous cleansing action. One of the numerous benefits of the ecoONE® system is how easy it is on your spa’s equipment. Clean your filters monthly using FilterONE™. Then use ecoONE® Enzyme Active Filter Booster which is a super-concentrated powder that is added directly into the filter compartment every time the filter is cleaned. It increases filter efficiency by naturally breaking down oils, lotions and other organic contaminants. ecoONE® Enzyme Active Filter Booster has the added benefit of making even heavily used filters amazingly easy to clean. I can’t find any literature saying the water has to be replaced if all looks normal. That is the water is clear, responds to sanitizer and shock and feels good.

CALCIUM BUILD UP SOLVED - a recent email from one of our customers: I just wanted to write and tell you how pleased I am with the Eco products. I have a spa, and for years have fought with the build up of scale from our above average amt of calcium in our water. I was never able to fill my spa, no matter how I cleaned it, without the presence of collected scale in the seats and around the sides. I used jetone, filter one, prefilter, when I filled it and monthly, and WOW, I have the best water I have had in many years. Thank you for making such a wonderful and eco-responsible product. Dianna Young, Eidson, TN
Remember: There are 3 things to filter out of the water; Solids, Liquids and Semi-Solids.
Chloramines can cause skin and eye irritation, strong chlorine odor and cloudy water. Chlorine in this combined form also has a greatly reduced ability to kill bacteria. A shock treatment once a week will destroy the chloramines and undesirable compounds that can cause these problems.
